What is your training style:My training style incorporates both resistance/strength training with functional/core training. I strongly believe in exercising with weighted resistance in order to increase muscle density and metabolic rate. And I include functional training in place of rest periods to recruit multiple muscle groups and improve core strength while keeeping an elevated heart rate. Combing these two training methods has improved my clients overall health and fitness goals.
What in your opinion is the biggest mistake people make while working out:The biggest mistake I see people making while working out is poor form. Most people I see exercising are just going through the motions; trying to get the bar or dumbbell from point A to B, and not really engaging the proper muscles for the exercise. For example, bench press for chest. 9 times out of 10 you'll see the person rounding the back and using majority front delts at the top of the movement; instead of raising the chest, keeping the shoulders against the pad, and squeezing the chest.
Have you done any volunteer work:I do volunteer work for hardship cases. I often come across or hear of overweight individuals that are in a sense...crying out for help, but do not have the extra income for a personal trainer. So, another trainer and myself have a program in place where we train and offer nutritional counselling over a 12 week period...free of charge. It is rewarding to see these individuals' self esteem, health, and bodies change in such a short period of time.
