Why have you become a trainer:I'm a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor because I truly enjoy helping others achieve their fitness and lifestyle goals. Whether I'm teaching a class, training someone individually, or just talking to members at one of the facilities I work at, I can't help but be excited about what I do. Plus, I get to listen to and move around to music all day long!
What is your training style:My training style is traditional and conservative due to the fact that the majority of my clientele is older adults. I ask questions to ensure comfort levels with each exercise, and progress slowly with each activity. I enjoy learning new ideas and ways to do things, however, I tend to stick with traditional exercises (again, due to the nature of my clientele).
In general, please describe your experience:I became certified as a Group Fitness Instructor in 1988. After working part-time for about 13 years (as I was climbing the corporate ladder), I decided to take my career to the next level, and became certified as a Personal Trainer. For the past 4 years, I've been working about 30 hours a week as an instructor and trainer. I currently work at the Westfield Area Y, the JCC in Scotch Plains and Merck's Rahway facility. My specialties include seniors, pre/postnatal, water fitness and pilates.
