What in your opinion is the biggest mistake people make while working out:They try to simulate the activities of people already in superior condition. Many, due to cost of personal training, will attempt to following the advise given by fitness magazines showing advance type moves and routines. Then after reading these articles, they attempt to do activities way above their own personal level and get injured. I see this especially in people who think that if they ask for help it will make them look bad or inadequate.
What other skills do you bring to the table besides your training experience:To go along with my education is a lot of personal experience. I know first hand what it was like to grown up overweight and what it took to overcome this problem by having to make personal lifestyle changes. Additionally, I had to go through months of rehab after an accident myself. After experiencing this first hand I know what it takes to return from an injury. I know that it takes more than a desire, but actually get out there and doing it.
In general, please describe your experience:I have a BS in Sports Medicine and an MS in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology. I worked many years as a special response, SWAT team member, which required a high level of fitness be maintained. I interned in cardiac rehab, physical therapy and athletic sports conditioning. I am certified by ACSM as a health fitness instructor and NSCA as a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Additionally, I have a black belt in Tae Kwan Do and am certified to teach pre/post pregnancy classes.
